great movie

i saw this a couple months ago, then saw it again recently and had to comment on it. this is a very well made movie, very non-conventional in its multiple twists and turns in the plot and in terry quinn's character. the characters in the story are not one-dimensional like some modern day horror story characters, you get a true sense of connection and naturalism from watching them act together. Jerry Blake is not just another mindless psycho, he's a complex, layered individual with
personality fluctuations. Stephanie isn't an air-headed teenager, she's a girl with issues about her life who goes to see a therapist like most real-life troubled people do. this movie conveys a sense of realism like no other movie does nowadays, actually delving beneath the surface projected to the audience to help you see what makes the people in there tick. i recommend this movie to any fan of horror, terry quinn, or just watching a worthwhile film.

I fully agree that Jill Schoelen who played Stephenie was believible! I have seen this film a number of times since it came out in 1987. It still holds up in 2007! Great film. Terry O'quinn is very effective!
