Why did Jerry smack his wife with the phone receiver?

The part where Jerry says "Who am I here?" and his wife said "You're Jerry!" Jerry goes "Jerry Blake... Thanks honey." and then smacked his wife with the phone receiver. Why did he do that? What did she do wrong to get him to try to kill her?

reply

SPOILER ALERT!!!

Jerry wants to find the perfect family and when they don't live up to his standards he kills them and moves on to the next one. After Jerry yelled at his stepdaughter Stephanie's guy friend for kissing her, he and his wife Susan got into an arguement because she thought he was being too hard on Stephanie and her friend. Susan told him "I've known him (the friend) longer than I've known you"! This didn't sit well with Jerry. So he got a new job in another town, quit his old one, and introduced himself to a single mother hoping to find a better family. When Susan confronted him about secretly quitting his job he momentarily forgot which alias he was using, so naturally Susan was suspicious. Jerry decided that was the perfect moment to kill her and Stephanie so he could move on and start over again.

"Is that the one with the donkey and the chambermaid"?

Absolutely.^

Because right before, he slipped up and accidently used the wring alias.

Yep, he screwed up and called himself by the wrong name, not the name he's known by there and once he realized what he'd done the cat was out of the proverbial bag.

If you expect the unexpected doesn't the unexpected then become the expected?

reply

you're all wrong, its cuz the dumb bitch didnt have dinner ready

hail to the king baby

reply

Plan into motion. He had already set up his other house, job, and target. "Who am I here" was the springboard to eliminate the Maines and move on.

reply

Still such a chilling scene.

“Thank you, honey...” {WHAM!}

------

Wait a minute... who am I here?

reply

You seriously cannot be this stupid.

reply

Imagine if it was a cordless.

That is one thing that I do miss about movies, the old telephones. There was something grand about hanging up on someone with that great *DING*. Or if you dialed a wrong #, you'd get this "whahuh whahuh..."

reply

Because it was funny!

reply

Because she was phoning in her performance. It didn’t ring true to him.

Either that or it’s just what psychopaths with a dissociative disorder do.
