Don't know but I do know that it is getting remade. Frank Miller will be tapping Gabriel Macht as the lead.

The way I heard it, Will Eisner didn't like the movie at all and having creative control nixed the series. He had to allow the network to show it once but would not allow it to be shown at all after that. After his death the estate kept his wishes concerning the movie. So unfortunately, no DVD.

It has appeared on gray market home video because I have a VHS copy.

You're being FAR too generous to the Frank Miller garbage.

I suspect we have a chance to see it finally appear on an inexpensive DVD sometime around the debut of Frank Miller's SPIRIT.
Why do I think so? Because I've noticed for years the tendency of inexpensive DVD packagers to note the names of new or upcoming potential blockbusters, then look for anything like a previously made unreleased version that they can release under their own banner and thus cash in on the unrelated flick currently in the cinemas.
Case in point, the sudden DVD release of the 20-year-old PBS adaptation of BRIDGE TO TERABITHIA. (Like SPIRIT, I never got a chance to see the original TERABITHIA when it aired. I don't think I knew it even existed until recently.)

I am not even sure that i am going to use my time on this new Frank Miller version of The Spirit.
The reports i have read from all sorts of critics who has watched it say that it was like watching Sin City....i did not like that movie.
The trailers i have watched did not show enything that i remember from the old Will Eisner comic books, besides from a guy wearing a mask who calls himself The Spirit.

I guess i wait untill it gets released on DVD and then pick up a rental version of it to see what this new movie is all about.
