One could argue that The Last Jedi stole Spaceballs 2's thunder... But it seems that the only people who got the jokes were offended by them...

Come to think of it, you're right... There could be different levels of comedy here... Worth it 👍

I'm pretty sure he talks about it in the DVD commentary from memory, I just can't remember what he said when I heard it many years ago.

Parodey falls under Fair Use. Disney may try to litigate it in court but unless the Parody is actually deriving its content (Actually using names of characters and places etc) and the content is actually poking fun of rather then trying to draw from the content of star wars its fair game.
