soundtrack and artist playing main title on sax

Who is the artist playing the main title so I can buy the cd?

reply

It's Gene Ammons and it's on the CD "Gentle Jug"

That's an amazing CD if you can get your hands on one.

His sax on this particular title is just beautiful. I can listen to it for hours on end.

Reissued during Jazz's renaissance of the 1980's on Fantasy Records in Berkeley Cal.
I believe it was reissued on three formats;
LP, CD and Audio Cassette.

inode,
That scene in the lounge is one of my all time favourites.
That accompanying music for that scene, along with Bernard Tavernier's "Round Midnight" (1986) defined my '80s

Do you know if there is an actual soundtract for the movie?

reply

Yes there is a soundtrack but I cannot find it. Have you been successful? I would love to get a hold on one.

reply

I think Warren Zevon was also featured in this soundtrack

That was Sting that mangled the vocal on this version.  If you like him, then good for you.

However there are dozens of recorded versions of this Gershwin classic including legends like Judy Garland, Sinatra, Streisand, Etta James, Ella Fitzgerald...the list is endless...Amy Winehouse did a fantastic version...

When I first saw the film, I thought it was Randy "I Love L.A." Newman
