Understanding Slumber Party Massacre 2

Although I havn't seen Slumber Party Massacre 3 yet, this is my perception of the movie Slumber Party Massacre 2:

Courtney is obviously suffering from Post Traumatic Neurosis as a consequence of her and her sister killing a killer who killed so many people in the first one. This explains her dreams and neurotic behaviour. Mrs Bates doesn't help either, she seems just as crazy as what Valerie must be!!! Mrs Bates is over protective and seems to constantly bring up the events of Slumber Party Massacre 1 over and over and over again, making Courtney relive them over and over and over again!!!

It appears that Courtney seems to slip into some sort of psychotic haze, temporary psychosis ( or permanent, since she ends up in a Psychiatric Hospital in the end ) that is triggered by her Neurosis and inability to cope with the events of when she was ten (Slumber Party Massacre 1).

My take was that, what we see in the movie is all inside Courtney's head. Inside the mind of the clinically and certifiably insane. Take a trip on the Psychoses roller coaster!!! I think she killed her friends, but due to the psychoses, she is unable to determine what is real and what is not. She may think what we see in the movie is what happened, because that's what she saw too. Just think of the movie "American Psycho". That whole movie was in his head as well, as a result of a psychotic episode. Sound familiar??

(* just quickly, you can look this up if you wish, here is a very brief discription of what Psychosis is: Psychosis is the mental abnormality where the sufferer cannot distinquish between reality and fantasy basically - this is a fascinating condition that I recommend you look up. It may help you to understand this movie better, or at least enjoy it more when you can watch it as a "psychological Horror movie" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm a behavioural science / criminology and criminal justice student, so this comes up often!!)

I think this movie is brilliant and is definately one of my favourites, I have watched it a momentous amount of times and can even recite the whole movie!!! I will admit tho, I get tired of hearing nothing but bad reviews and critisism from people about this movie, so I direct all those bad reviews and critisism back to all of you that keep trying to bring it down - you are all closed minded people and if you REALLY ARE true Horror fans, having an open mind will allow you to REALLY and TRULY appreciate the art behind ALL Horror movies, including this one. Such a fantastic movie.

Two thumbs up to laurie_strode1978!! I couldn't agree more to what he says. Slumber Party Massacre 2 is one of my all time favorites too and i too am tired of all the bad remarks that are said about this incredible movie. I also want to mention that Juliette Cummins, the girl that portrays "Sheila" in this movie is one of the hottest horror movie actresses that I've seen in a long time. Maybe she doesn't really sing the songs in the movie, but who cares? Did you rent or buy this movie for the music? I certainly hope not. Watch it for what it is, a horror movie to be enjoyed and watched numerous times. I still don't understand why some of you people come to this message board and post negative comments on these movies. If you don't enjoy the movie or the actor, why even visit their message board??

I don't normally like horror movies that are "sureal" like this one but I saw it when I was a kid and it stuck.

Also, at the end when they're running around in that unfinished neighborhood a chord is struck deep in my psyche. There is something very creepy to me about unfinished housing developments! Almost like something happened a long time ago that I have since repressed!?!?

Long live Juliette Cummins!

The dude that played the Driller Killer was the lead in Grease for a few years before he did Slumber II!

Go figure.

I think he made a great driller killer....I don't know maybe it was his "evil" laugh lol I really enjoyed this movie... so far i've seen part 1 and 2 as well as the "unofficial" sequel cheerleader massacre I and II were great movies but cheerleader massacre has one BIG loose end that I don't get but it was over all an alright movie I guess.

Actually everything that happened in Slumber Party Massacre II was all in her head. She never had the friends it was all made up. That's why their was so much in common with the deaths from # 1 and the deaths in # 2. Prime example is when Sheila and her boyfriend run to the door but the person who owns the house can not hear them. Remember in the first when Valerie ignored the boy till it was too late?

According to director's commentary on DVD, they left ending like that on purpose. Probably even them (director and writer) didn't know how to finish the movie, so they left open ending. Also, ending might be highly influenced by Elm Street ending (which this movie of course rips off), which ends in similar fashion, so this ending might be intentional. Hell, it might be even Phantasm influence, which ends in similar fashion.

I am kinda glad they did it like that. It fits the movie, and also... that means Amy is still alive. ^_^ She's too cute to die and she's the only one of the girls who didn't have that terrible 80s haircut. ^_^
