The 3 parts of this movie reminds me of the prom night movies... strange thougth.. but it's true
shareIt does remind me of "Prom Night 3": a devilish nightmare figure who haunts a high school outsider, lots of colored gel lighting, surreal settings, and a finale involving the hero/heroine becoming lost in a dream-like world.

shareI thought the exact same! First movies are straight up slashers, middle movies are zany supernatural, and the last ones go back to slashers, but try to be a little darker.
Although I do like SPM more than the first Prom Night, but PN4 more than SPM3.
Yeah, it has similarities. Both started as straight slasher series, but went for supernatural twists from part 2.
I might be in minority, but I actually prefer Prom Night 2 and 3 instead of original.
Prom Night 2 is quite cheesy Elm Street\Carrie ripoff, and it's quite fun. Part 3 is silly, so it's quite fun. Part 4 kinda sucks tho.
First is kind borefest, nothing really happens for first hour or so, and once killings do finally start, they aren't that much impressive. It's rather tame even for early 1980-81, when you think about it, Terror Train, MBV, Prowler, Maniac and The Burning were already around.
