Beautiful movie

Just finished watching this on THIS-TV (a cable side-channel). Found it by accident. Just going through the channels, and happened to come upon the scene in which the Tax Collector is fumbling about in the Temple while the (stop-motion!) ghosts are crawling around in the attic. Decided to give it a chance, and after a few minutes I found myself intrigued enough to keep watching. For a "ghost story", this film contains a surprisingly moving love story woven throughout the action. I found the practical, NOT hyper-realistic special effects not only enjoyable, but refreshing. I have to say that one the reasons I kept watching is because I found it similar to "Kwaidan" http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0058279/ although that film is, compared to this, a bit more straight horror -- and Japanese rather than Chinese, although the Asian view of the spirit world is presented similarly in both. (Then again, the segment "Yuki-Onna" is a ghostly love story as well.) I'm glad this film has a fairly high rating here, and I'd like to think it'd be rated even higher if people were more familiar with it.
