A ghost movie similar to this

I remember back in 1995-98 I saw a fantasy, action or ghost film with the same act. Don't remember who were in the film,I only remember that a boy fell in love with a girl and tried to help her to reincarnate.
That similar movie was very touching.
Can someone remember to have seen that too? name of the movie?
