OFFICIAL REMAKE OF ORIGINAL IN THE WORKS!!

Personally, I have nothing to do with Hollywood -- I am a teacher at Beverly Hills high school -- but my husband works in Hollywood and a good friend of his is hard at work on a remake (or re-imagining) of the classic 80's horror film SILENT NIGHT, DEADLY NIGHT.

He aquired the right to shop the project around town and, while there was a great deal of interest from several studios and independent film companies, it was New Line Cinema who really stepped up to the plate. The executive producers of SNAKES ON A PLANE really responded to the marketing campaign of the original film, though not the film itself, and were extremely interested in a re-imagining of it. The two creative producers are hard at work trying to come up with a new and interesting take on the Santa Claus killer concept while staying true to the tone of the original film.

While no official deal has been struck, as the studio is waiting for the right take on the material, they are very interested and there is a very real possibility that you may see SILENT NIGHT, DEADLY NIGHT at your local multiplex in the next year or so.

While this could all fall apart, at least with New Line, I figured it didn't hurt to let people know that a SILENT NIGHT, DEADLY NIGHT remake is indeed in the works.

i would be the first one in line to see this remake

There's no possible way anyone can ever top the original.
Not in a million years.
Plus it'll likely be rated PG-13 so the slacker boys and their bubble gum chewing girlfriends can see it.

It will suck, trust me. It will be a watered down "suspense" film, as opposed to a true slasher.

I don't give a crap who directs or who stars in it. Don't spend a dime on this, you'll regret it.

Anchor Bay released Silent Night Deadly Night 1 & 2 on a single DVD in 2003. It shouldn't be that difficult to find. Maybe Best Buy has it

If they are retarded enough to rate it PG-13, you KNOW it will be a piece of s+++! and the producers should line up at the firing squad!

I agree, the original will never be topped.

OH! Make sure the killer says "GARBAGE DAY!" in the movie.

Plain stupid! When is Hollywood going to be more original?
SNDN is a cult classic and doesn't need a lame remake which will likely suck as most remakes do.

I'd rather they make a sequel instead of copying someone elses movie.

It will suck, it's just a ripoff of Black Christmas, and will initially ripoff the remake of Black Christmas (which sucked nyways) What do you bet it will be released on christmas day?
