Brantley Foster vs. Alex Keaton

Would you say Brantley Foster is like Alex Keaton?

In what ways is he like Alex? In what ways is he different?

I'd say he's similar to Alex in that he's interested in economics and climbing the corporate ladder. He's different in that he's grown up on a farm in a small town, and so is perhaps a bit less of an elitist.

Well, Alex was even more interested in politics than business it seems to me and there's no suggestion that Brantley is interested in politics at all. Plus, Alex was often shown to be insecure whereas we see little of that from Brantley - he's almost overconfident. Alex also seemed to go after women who were more his opposite while Brantley falls in love with someone he sees as the female version of himself. I would also say that Alex was somewhat narcissistic whereas there doesn't seem to be any of that in Brantley.
Obviously there are some similarities as they are both wanting to become successful businessmen in New York. They also both seem to believe in keeping their ethics as they do so - Brantley wants to build up the company and save people's jobs rather than just put them out of work to save money as Uncle Howard wants. What we see of this with Alex also suggests he's not an unscrupulous businessman. They both seem to be rather innocent characters - Brantley more so than Alex. They are also loyal - Alex was always sticking up for the goofy Skippy and Brantley doesn't forget Melrose as he rises to the top.
Overall, though, they both seem like nice guys but if I had to pick one to be friends with, I would have picked Brantley.
