Havent Seen It in Years.

I remember this film being one of those sort of 'goonie' clones that ran all the time on cable, but now it seems to have been lost to time. Is there a specific reason why this dosent get aired much at all anymore? Or is it be cause of the 'us vs the Russians' theme of the film that kind of dates it?

I remember seeing this movie a few times as a kid and I thought it was good. Peter Bilingsley I remember as "Ralphie" from "A Christmas Story". Joaquin or "Leaf" Phoenix I had seen in "Parenthood" and his later movies such as "Gladiator" and of course, "Walk The Line". The only thing that confuses me about the movie now is that in the pictures and summary for the movie, there appears to be three kids. From what I remember from watching the movie many years ago, was that there was a fourth kid included with the characters played by Peter Bilinglsey, Joaquin "Leaf" Phoenix, and Stefan DeSalle who befriend "Mischa" played by Whip Hubley. I don't know, maybe I was just seeing a fourth kid included in the group(I was only a kid when I first saw this movie). But yeah, this movie seems to have been forgotten and hasn't been shown on TV whether cable or regular TV in a long time. In fact, the last time I remember seeing the movie was back in the summer of 1998. It was shown on KCAL-9(channel 9)which is one of the local channels in L.A. Hell, I even forgot about this movie until last night. I'm not sure if this movie is out on DVD, but if it isn't, it should be because it seemed like a movie suitable for "all ages".

They missed out the fat kid who eats all the time. (Clever kid, geeky kid, black kid, fat kid.)

There were only three boys, but one of them has an older sister who develops a crush on Mischa. Might that have been the "fourth kid" you were thinking about?

I remember seeing pieces of this in the early 90's on cable. I watched the whole thing last year. It was pretty entertaining, but needed a better finale.
