Killians offer

Do you think Killian was serious with his offer to make Ben a Stalker, or was it just another show business lie to get him killed?

I mean having Ben as a Stalker would have bumped the rating into double digits for a while, but killing Ben Richards would have had the same outcome without the hefty paycheck and contract.

Spoilers about the book, so if you have not read the book and plan to, stop reading this. Yes, he was completely serious with the offer. All they would have to do is have a rogue person to throw under the bus for doctering the video. They could easily show the real video, turning him into an innocent hero. In the book, Killian gives him the same deal, and Richards accepts the deal. Of course then he crashes the plane into the tower Killian is at.

The other poster really knew his p's and q's....but going from just the movie, I would also agree. They could all be winners and save face. Richards gets a better life if he sells out, and Killian doesnt get into trouble biting off more than he could chew. Richards had quickly established himself as a crowd favorite and it was around this time, the people were even betting on him!

I think Killian didnt have much hope to get Richards to take the deal. After all, he was framed and in prison for a considerable length of time, his brother was gone, his friends were both just killed, and he had a bad case of hemmroids. But if he had taken the deal, he would have likely taken Captain America's place gradually as the new face of the show.

Don't forget Richards had this rash that wouldn't stop itching no matter how much he scratched it.
