RoboCop (1987) should have ended with the introduction of Anne Lewis as a second RoboCop

Throughout the entirely of the first movie we're treated to what's supposed to be a satire that feels way too real at this point in time. As an audience we get to see the disaster that is Ed 209s maiden voyage. Seconds later the man behind the Robocop program Bob Morton says to his colleague that "everything is ready to go, all we need is done poor schmuck to volunteer". Cue Alex Murphy getting shot...a lot. Less than three months later (movie time) we have our hero.

Now skip ahead to the end of the movie where Clarence Boddiger and his gang are trying to defeat metal Jesus and end up doing a number on not only him but his partner Anne Lewis. The exchange between the two after Boddiger dies goes something like, ~Lewis "Murphy, I'm messed up." Robocop "Don't worry Lewis, they'll fix you. They fix everything".

The rest of the film is wrapped up nicely with the bad guy dying and the heads of OCP showing their admiration of their creation. Here is where my point comes into play. Lewis is badly injured, Robocop just demonstrated that he is extremely effective at his job. Hell the big part of the second movie is OCP trying to recreate that same success. So them ensuring that Lewis didn't get fixed and then became the next test subject seems completely feasible to me.

Well if they are technologically advanced enough to actually create Robocop and all the require modifications with no after issues like people have with transplants even in today. Such as rejection of transplants, infections etc... I could see the medical field to be able to get her back to her regular self with ease.

They literally had him with a arm and decided last minute to just cut it off without really any thought. That is really not as simple a surgery as there are nerves, veins, tendons, muscle and bones to deal with.

Its probably why she just came back as her regular old self instead of part machine.

No. This was 1987, not the pussy PC society we live in today where everyone has to be represented so nobody’s feelings are hurt. This movie is perfect as it is.

Yeah gotta agree.

I was shocked that some of the people on Reddit had some common sense and also said "No" to that idea, recognizing that the film had a perfect runtime and there was no excess shots or ridiculous padding out like there is in many of today's films.

Plus, Lewis was hot as she was. No need to make her a RoboCop, too.

Murphy was legally dead after a trauma team tried to keep him alive. Lewis might have died from blood loss if not rescued but we’d already seen that there is rapid hele-evac for injured police. A medical team would have to kill her or just let her die without helping her in order for her to be Robocopped.
