Where was the sex?

First of all Weird Science had more sex than this film.

What the heck happened?

One of the reasons the first film did so well is because they combined funny, but hokey comedy with SEX!

Then, not only was there no sex in the second one, but they did the same thing to the third one as well! What was the point?

reply

Because Nerds dont get laid.

By the way I'd like to thank all my beloved nerds for my Starmeter bump. You know who you are...

I love my fanboy nerds!

The closest we got was Ogre with the fake Indian sacrifice girl.

Deleted scene of Lamar and Ogre ramming each other....

rofl @ lamar & orge!
& what would be more funny lamar being the "top"

Late '80s. That full frontal, explicit sex thing started to fade away from mainstream films around then. Country was getting more conservative under Reagan, Meese Commission, etc, and even mainstream Hollywood felt the shock waves. Over time, things have swung back the other way, but the problem is the movies suck now. From the late '60s to about the mid '80s, you had nudity, sex, and great movies!

reply

So sad.

reply

yeah, even police academy started out as more of a sex comedy and then the sequels started banking on audiences returning to see what the characters are upto this time instead of the t&a.

reply

Well we did see the three dream girls with see-thru tops. So that's at least something.

reply

Yeh, but that's nothing compared to the original. "We got bush"...LOL. Of course, Booger says the same line in Nerds 2, but this time he's talking about weed. Love how they push the envelope. FCC cracks down on the skin, so they go with marijuana indulgence. Perfect. Make the fascists earn their money.

Who were they? Especially the one on the left.

I always noticed,the sequel is never good as the 1st movie anyway.if a part 3 comes out,that's usually better,but part 2 is always a disappointment.it was rated pg,so can't expect too much t&a.

reply

At the end of the day, all sequels suck. You can count off all good sequels you've ever seen on one hand. But with comedy, if you have good actors they can do a hundred sequels and they'll be worth watching. Although I haven't really put the Nerds ensemble to the test yet by trying to entirely watch Nerds 3. It looks really stupid off hand. Nerds 2 was worth watching, though, even if it doesn't come near the original Revenge of the Nerds, which is a comedy classic.

reply

Nerds 3 was made for TV.

You do the math.

They also made a Nerds 4, which I had never even heard of, but I don't need to watch it to know that it's got nothing on any of the originals.

reply

They probably wanted to hit a bigger audience with a pg 13 rating and no nudity. I don't need this in all my movies but it did make the first one original. I didn't like the main villain either, a fine actor but he was a rip off of Stan. Part 2 had no edge.

reply

The closest thing this movie got to sex was the extras inside that room of the Hotel Coral Essex "Want to go around the world with Melina?" I was suprised with the lack of nudity in this movie since the original had some. All we got were "teasers" in bikinis! Very conservative for such a raunchy comedy series.

reply

i agree, the nudity and raunchiness of the 1st one is what made it so great.

Box-office considerations, people. Nearly every one of these films back then that began with an R, usually had their sequel PG-13. It's the kids. Studios do surveys and/or listen to the public about what demo really spoke highly of the film. Well, having lived through that time period, Nerds was beloved by the 10-25 set. A handful of guys beyond may have liked it, but to most 25+, it was a juvenile nudie fest. Police Academy also comes to mind as their subsequent films were PG-13, PG, PG, PG and even the last one could've qualified as G (according to their producer). It's still even happening today with stuff such as Die Hard 4.

I remember watching it and was extremely disappointed at the lack of sex and nudity compared to the first one.
