Not 'smart' and not a 'good spoof'......

The subject for this post is only an OPINION. To the people that like this movie, I applaud you. Even the most dedicated, die-hard horror fans cannot follow the plot of this movie. My problem with this film is that it was a little boring and did not appropriately spoof the genre. The sex and violence was not as gratuitous as a spoof would suggest. In fact, there were long periods of time without any murder at all.
This movie had capable character actors in it, I wanted to like it. There were a few moments where I laughed, but I was consumed by the randomness of the plot. Slasher movies are sometimes confusing, but I can at least tell where/when the action is taking place and who the hell I'm watching. Yikes.

Every single segment of "Treehouse of Horror" (all 75-ish)are better than this movie. It's not an all-together terrible movie, but I agree the OP

Son, you can't polish a turd

Yeah, it sucks.

Got to agree with this. This was one of those films that probably sounded like a good idea when they were thinking it up, but ended up a bit of a mess.

The idea that the viewer is never sure whether the murders we are watching are currently happening, happening decades ago or are just a scene in the film may sound scary when making it. But the finished film just looked like a confusing mess.

A COMPLETE mess.

It wasn't just a little boring, it was EXTREMELY boring. And if definitely failed as a spoof, even Scary Movie did a better job.

Student Bodies (1981) did it better.
