Poor George Clooney

I never thought that I'd see the day when Clooney was cast aside so easily as a fill in flesh bag. I swear, he was the only one who died in the entire flick and it was in the first ten minutes of the film to boot. He was only like 19 years old though and probably a struggling actor to at that time but still, it's pretty funny and possibly a long forgotten memory for him. Well guess you have to start somewhere. :)

I'm hesitant to call him a struggling actor in the same way that the other actors movie are. It's different for a Hollywood kid.

Well, we all have to start somewhere.

Most actors will start out on soaps, indie movies, and low-budget exploitation.

Or porn *cough*Sylvester Stallone*cough*.

Mr. Gibbs, you may throw my hat if you like... Now go and get it

What do you mean "poor George Clooney"? If I ever bump into him, I'm gonna say "hey, you're the guy from Return To Horror High! How was it working with Marcia Brady?" I love this movie.

Actually, in those days, Mr. Clooney was popping up everywhere from appearances in The Golden Girls, Return of the Killer Tomatoes, ER (the sitcom...not the better-known drama), The Facts of Life (as a series regular), Grizzly 2, and this. He had a good thing going with his Aunt being Rosemary Clooney, but those were "struggling actor" times.

" a couple Troma movies (If memory serves)"

Your memory serves wrong, he was never in a Troma movie.

Hey, this guy's not gonna leak all over my ice cream, is he?

reply

Clooney didn't even come to
Hollywood until 1982-he was
21 and just figure the year
of the movie and you will
know how old he was.

I don't know if this is his worst, Ocean's Twelve was pretty terrible

they make...headcheese.they take the head and they boit it, except for the tongue !

reply

It is hard to know what Clooney's worst is, there are so many to choose from, but it is clear that his triumph was Return of the Killer Tomatoes.

reply

His best come back was in the horror movie From Dusk till Dawn.

reply

Yeah, poor guy. I feel so bad for where he ended up after this movie. Tragic.

It's hard to feel sorry for George Clooney given how successful he is now. They all had to start somewhere.

My sympathy goes to Vince Edwards and Scott Jacoby, both talented actors, but both near the end of their careers at the time this film was produced.

Edwards died in 1996 after a battle with cancer; he made his film debut in 1955 and of course starred in the 1960s television medical drama series "Ben Casey".

Jacoby is alive and well but hasn't done anything of note acting-wise since the early 1990s. He wrote, produced and directed a documentary in 2001 but seems to have settled into careers in real estate and as a martial arts instructor. Jacoby began acting at a young age, and had a successful if modest run in the 1970s (primarily in television movies), won an Emmy at 16, but in the 80s his career really slowed down; he made guest appearances on television (most notably in "The Golden Girls") and appeared in low-budget horror films. A talent who deserved more.

Mr. Clooney is hardly alone here - a lot of A-list stars got their start in low budget horror flicks.

Right off the top of my head...

Kevin Bacon was in Friday the 13th

Johnny Depp starred in Nightmare on Elm Street

Tom Hanks debuted in a 80s slasher called He Knows You're Alone

Both Matthew McConaughey and Renee Zellweger did Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation

I'm sure there are countless others
