DVD info please!

If anyone has the Red Riding Hood DVD can you please tell me whether or not it is in widescreen, and what the special features are if any.

I have sent numerous emails to MGM regarding the release of the other Movie Tales they last replied in November with a "no release is planned for a while" type statement but I am emailing them once a week just to make sure they do not forget. I urge you all to do the same, go to www.mgm.com/dvd and click on the contact link at the bottom of the page. When selecting what department of MGM to contact select 'comments about this site' this is the only one that I have ever received a reply from. You can also select 'MGM DVD' from the list so you might want to try that as well. Let them know you are interested and that you want a quality release of the remaining titles.

A reviewer at Amazon.com states that it is full screen, but the German DVD is widescreen. But from what I've been told, the German DVDs don't have an option for an English soundtrack, only German dubs.

Do you have a list of all the Canon Movie Tales so I can include them when I email MGM?

reply

Full list of Cannon Movie Tales:

1. Red Riding Hood
2. Sleeping Beauty
3. Hansel and Gretel
4. Snow White
5. Rumpelstiltskin
6. Puss in Boots
7. The Emperor's New Clothes
8. The Frog Prince
9. Beauty and the Beast

I live in Australia and in March this year both Red Riding Hood and Sleeping Beauty are being released on DVD. The Red Riding Hood cover is the same as the US release. There is no US release of Sleeping Beauty announced yet so maybe MGM is testing its release on the foregin market (Australia) before going ahead with a US release. I wish they would just release them all at once and in widescreen, and at least with a trailer.

Do you know if the Australian DVDs of Red Riding Hood and Sleeping Beauty will be in widescreen? I live in the US, but I have a region-free player, and I'd definitely import them if they are in the proper screen aspect ratio.

Hopefully, MGM will release the rest in the US soon to ride on the coattails of Farie Tale Theater. But I don't see much hope for widescreen here, unfortunately.

I have just bought both Red Riding Hood and Sleeping Beauty on DVD in Australia. They are both widescreen! There are no special features though.

Thanks so much for letting us know, guod! I'm going to order those right away!

I really hope they plan to release the rest in Australia soon.

The US DVD release is Fullscreen, but the picture is great. The only scene where you really miss something 'cause of the screen format, is when the camera zooms out from the Red Riding Hood to the wolf ; you don't see the wolf... lol the sound's stereo and it's pretty good too. The only extra feature is the trailer. The main menu's picture is taken from the original poster.
