William Forsythe's voice

I've seen this movie several times, and each time I see it I never cease to be amazed at how different William Forsythe's voice is from all his other roles. I thought maybe his voice got deeper and raspier later on as a result of smoking, however I saw him in an episode of "Chips" that predated RA and his voice was just as deep and raspy as it always is. I know it's called acting, but I still give him major props for putting on a convincing high-octave hick voice completely unlike his normal voice.

I agree. Watch The Devil's Rejects. It is like he is a totally different person.

He can get his voice pretty nasily and whiny like that.

Listen to him as Flat-Top Jones in the Warren Beatty "Dick Tracy" movie. He sounds almost exactly the same as he does here.

Both he and Michael Stuhlbarg, Larry in A Serious Man, played gangsters in Boardwalk Empire, in both cases roles very different than in the Coens' films.

I can't recall William Forsythe being in a funnier role. He usually plays a cop or a heavy, but I thought he killed it as one of the crazy escapees.

He was my favorite character in this movie. Definitely an unusual role for him, and he nailed it. Gotta admit, it was pretty darn cute the way he got so attached to the baby so quickly after taking him... LOL
