What happened to Grandma and Grandpa?

Woody introduces them in an early scene, and then you never hear from them again. Anyone know if there were originally more scenes planned for them?

Aren't they also in the hospital room after the baby is born?

Yes, they are in the hospital scene. The grandmother comments that Bea is dating a married man.

Hospital scene or no hospital scene, I agree with you, OP. We're introduced to this buxom grandmother, which I thought would translate into a lot of humor, only then it seemed to drop almost completely out of the narrative.

I thought this was a very funny movie either way, only yea it did seem strange to me how little they were shown.

I noticed that too. In the end, you see every character except them.

Watch it again. In the final scene with the family, when everbody's saying Happy New Year, they're both sitting at the dining room table.
