I felt this film resembled a scorsese picture, of coarse with a much more comedic vibe. Particularly the style of voice over storytelling in Goodfellas, and the cinematography. Also the music was very similar.

i thought i was the only one who saw a bit of scorcese in radio days. But this movie not only reminded me of him, but I also think it must have influenced him in many ways, specially in the making of goodfellas and other movies. For instance, that scene with danny aiello and his mother brought on my head the relation between joe pesci and his mother in goodfellas.

I definitely felt Scorsese vibes throughout this picture. The voiceover concurrent with background music definitely was reminiscent of Goodfellas or Casino. Of course this film was made a few years before either of those. Allen credits Fellini's Amarcord with the inspiration.
