Real chimps

I really enjoyed Project X and thought it was very tastefully sad. I read the rumors of animal abuse on the set - I hope it isn't true, but I have to say, there are 2 huge things to praise about this movie:

1. Not overwritten - the biggest problems with movies nowadays, there are 30 subplots and about 100 side characters with this, that, and I'm bored with it. Some call this the "Phantom Menace Syndrome."

2. Real animals. I'm all for humane treatment of animals. It's abhorrent, some of the things animals have had to deal with in movies, zoos and circuses. And I'm glad that animal rights groups monitor these things. But that's how it should've worked - use real animals, humanely. I'm so sick of CGI and even animatronics. Nowadays it's cheaper, easier, and you don't have to bother with treating anything humanely when it's all done on computer, but there's no realism to it whatsoever.

All that said, all the monkeys would've been shot and killed when they went on their rampage. Or they'd have all died in the plane crash. But don't worry about any of that!

I am sick of cgi myself! The beauty of this film are the chimps themselves. I really enjoyed this movie.
