finally watched it.....looks like a cheap made for tv british movie :/

Im a big 80s person love the music and movies...this movie is one I had not bothered to watch before though, it was on tv yesterday and its horrid lol, the production value was that of a horrid british 80s show or something, the way it was filmed to the acting it looked bad, I was expecting something classic or more 80s looking

It's meant to look that way. We're viewing the Grandson's imagination. This is how HE pictured. The over-the-top nature, cheap sets: it's all purposeful.

LOL fanboy much, sorry your saying that boy imagined it to look like a cheap no budget thing..i don't think so...that is your take on it because you know it looks cheap, what you say is not mentioned in the movie at all..your just making that up because you like the movie and don't want to admit that its actually not that good

Actually in the phrase, "Your saying" it is correct as is "You're saying."

Your saying (saying is a gerund in this case)
You're saying (saying is a participle in this case)

Slightly different meanings, but both work in the sentence the OP used.

I saw it when it first came out, and I enjoyed it! Everyone has a different "thought process" regarding what they expect/want to see in any genre of film/movie.......for me, sometimes it's best to just relax my mind, release any preconceived notions or expectations I may have....and let the movie play!!



is definitely an incorrect use of "you're". Not to mention "its" should be "it's", and probably a few other mistakes. But this isn't a grammar lesson.

To the OP's point, I think as others have commented the sets are as they are intentionally. On a production level this was not a big box office film that could afford lavish sets. I also liken the backgrounds at times to Warner Brother's cartoons (e.g. Bugs Bunny, Road Runner, etc.) which typically had very sparse backgrounds unless it was crucial to the story. In my personal opinion it doesn't detract from the quality of the movie, and certainly not to the excellent story.

Lastly, I'll throw this out there: saying something looks like a "cheap, made for TV British movie" is far from an insult. British TV movies are often lavish in their sets.

You're right about the second sentence. Even if you could imagine "just making that up" as a gerund phrase, it can't be followed by "because."
