Did anyone feel sorry for the Giant Rodent?

Yeah he was a big ugly thing, but he was a living creature and he sure sounded like he died in pain. Always felt a bit sorry for him.

reply

I did because he was just defending his turf.

Hey! You're not old enough to drink! Now go and die for your country!!!

reply

Well it was either kill it in self defense or be the rodent's lunch.

I just think killing the rodent was made in a bit more violent way, than it should.

"The sleeper must awaken!"

Yes, I do, fritzfassbender. The rodent is vicious and out of control, but I cringe when Westley digs in to the animal's eye, throws the poor thing into the fire, and brutally stabs the creature. StrayFeral, I agree, the rodent is not handled the right way. Westley should immediately warn Buttercup of the danger instead of pretending that the rodent isn't real, and then maybe the humans could get away without disturbing the nearby living presence. Even if the latter were to be proven impossible, at least in that case Westley would not jump in to fighting a wild creature unnecessarily. He seems to invite the rodent into his space so that he can exterminate the animal which is an unjust luring. Westley should wait until he is certain that he must kill in defense of his and Buttercup's lives before torturing the rodent.
