It does not mean that there are these mythical, lost longer cuts of the movie hanging around somewhere.
In most cases the unused footage is destroyed anyway.

Yes, I’m sure lots of footage gets destroyed, but efforts like the video I shared have already yielded fruit. Someone at Universal sent over a huge deleted scene from Uncle Buck to the guy’s channel, which is now available for all to see.
