The 'Wish You Were Here' Connection

Also directed by David Leland, 1987's Wish You Were Here was based loosely on the memoirs of Cynthia Payne. I was wondering what people's thoughts were on the role of Personal Services as a sequel to that film.

The lion and the calf shall lie down together, but the calf won't get much sleep.

Ah, yes, 'Wish You Were Here' with a young Emily Lloyd :0)

I think it's a great film - really moving and beautiful. I saw it as a child (perhaps not exactly appropriate viewing for an eleven year old!) and again a couple of years ago when it was on Film 4 or something. I was feeling a bit hormonal, so bawled my eyes out at Lloyd's worldly yet vulnerable teenage incarnation of Payne. I only stopped crying at the end of the film, when she returned to Southsea with her baby and declared that she finally had something that was all hers. It was very uplifting!
