Why Oregon (vs. California)


As many people know/have pointed out, the movie was filmed in and around Fort Bragg California. I've noticed this is other movies also, why did they go out of their way 2-3 times to mention Oregon, when they could have easily just said California or Northern California. Perhaps they wanted to make Dean seem as "hillbilly" as possible and perhaps people couldn't disassociate people from California as being lower than others, that everyone from there must be a glamorous movie star.

Now that I'm writing this out, it's actually a complete slap in the face insult to the good people of Oregon.

Yes, I agree with you. Also, Dean and his boys needed to be someplace Joanna never would have set foot, and "Elk Snout" is that place.
