A 4.7? Really people?

This isn't masterpiece by any means, but by God it is a golden example of '80s trash films, specifically of the Cannon era. This film is simply fun with an awesome soundtrack.

For shame, IMDB voters, for shame.

Ya, I have no idea how this movie has such a low rating....i'd expect the mid fives or low sixes but 4.7...I think people need to re-watch it and compare it to the unoriginal crap that comes out these days...the soundtrack alone should score this movie a rating of 6.

I came to the forums certain that i would find a thread like this one, thank you.

People need to stop clicking on stars when they are clueless.

agree too...it's a heartwarmng movie and 4.7 is low for this movie

yes,I think 4.7 is very low for this movie.
script and soundtrack was good.
6.5/10 deserved.

This just shows you what kind of ignorant, pseudo-intellectual, wanna-be critics IMDb is filled with. I don't know a single person in real life, who has disliked this universally loved cult classic. Easily one of Stallone's best.

reply

An easy 7 for me, fantastic soundtrack. Double this with Rocky 4 and you are in for a good night!

I voted it a 7 too.

Paradox much, good sir?

...Screw ze clearance. Ve vill *take* that plane.

Paradox was probably not the right word, but I was referring to the words "universally loved cult classic"; a cult classic being a movie without mainstream praise that nonetheless has a dedicated following (a cult as opposed to culture, if you will), or so my definition goes. "Contradictory" might simply have been what I was looking for.

Sad story. You got a smoke?

reply

This is not Citizen Kane or the Godfather, but is a very entertaining story I always stop at it everytime I find it zapping my TV up. It´s just a father and son story about forgiveness and overcoming family issues.

reply

It has 4.5/5 on amazon, offcourse it is a much love classic, it is not cult, it is fairly well known movie. It's a Stallone movie!

reply

How come if it was double elimination, the movie ended with Bull only losing once?

reply

Yeah, I know I'm personally offended. Love this cheese-fest! It is this riduclous balance between corny and heart-warming.

I totally agree. I get so mad when people underestimate Stallone. Over the top is an awesome and inspirational'80s actionmovie. I'm from Holland and i sometimes don't get the critics. John wayne gets praise for the actionmovies he did back in the day, but stallone gets the stinkeye from some people....why? I think he's THE action legend in Hollywood...PERIOD!!!

I think OTT is a nice mix of heart, cheese, and action. It has emotion, but also big burly guys acting like fools; so it isn't toooo serious. It's motivational, funny, and appeals to action junkies. Plus there's an awesome 80s soundtrack.

Love this movie!

I also find Stallone to be far more talented than Schwarzenegger yet gets less respect, I don't get it.

Global Warming, it's a personal decision innit? - Nigel Tufnel

reply

That's because in most of his movies his acting is piss poor. His best movies are when he plays a down on his luck guy trying to make it (Rocky, Over the Top) or Rambo and The Expendables. Demolition Man was good. Other than that, I think he's made a TON OF FORGETTABLE MOVIES along with a TON OF FORGETTABLE PERFORMANCES through the years. PERIOD!

reply

And Schwarzenegger is simply painful to watch in 98% of anything he has ever done. The only thing that Schwarzenegger has on his side: he has done some awesome movies!

Stallone is BY FAR a better actor, no matter the number of "forgettable" movies and performances he might had done.

So, bottom line: stfu if you don't know what you are talking about, moron.

reply

Yeah, bit low.

It's not an amazing film by any means, but it's a damn solid film which hits all the right notes, and then there's the soundtrack. Vintage 80's!

reply

Actually I think 4.7 is quite generous considering.
