Was Bette Midler's character in this movie a pornstar, there are numerous references to her being a pornographic actress and in the beginning she says she is in a movie called NINJA VIXENS. ?

I don't think she was a porn STAR. It sounded to me like she just did a couple of skin flicks to make some dough.

Skin flicks does imply she was a porn star.

Not necessarily. I suspect she was in a few of those R-rated "B" movies, no hard-core sex, but soft-core, probably some nudity, etc.

Then she says "Hey, I'm pretty good at this stuff, actress are just *beep* who get paid."

She was just *beep* to see if she could convince the guy. It worked.
