She couldn't close her eyes, but...

...she could have looked away, no?

reply

Her head and neck were tied to a pillar with ropes, so at least we are supposed to believe she can't even look away.

You don't need to move your head or neck to look away from something. You can just move your eyeballs.

reply

Actually she is trying not to see it.

I don't understand why she's unable to if she so chooses.

reply

Yep, if she rolled her eyes back in her head, she should have been able to. From her expression, I guess she was fighting with her unconscious repressed desire to see someone being killed just like her mother which she wanted to deny in herself.

errrr, sure, how about you give it a try. No need to use needles, just hold both eyes open and see if you can do anything with your eyeballs to actually looks away and not see the computer screen at all... You can see a near 120° mid-peripheral vision blurring out to the edges, but none-the-less know what is going on. Same with up and down unless you're able to roll your eyeballs right up while trying not to get poked with a bunch of needles. Have fun!! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peripheral_vision

To see or not to see that is the question...

reply

Yeah, sure. If I have a video playing on my monitor and I look away from it, I can still tell that there's a video there, but I can't really tell what's going on in it. What she would see in her peripheral vision would be minimal. She would have a sense of what's going on but she wouldn't see the details of the murder, which would certainly be better.
