INFERNO IS THE WORST ARGENTO?

I HAVENT SEEN OPERA OR PHENOMENA OR TRAUMA, BUT I DONT SEE HOW THEY
COULD BE ANY WORSE THAN INFERNO. I WAS VERY DISSAPOINTED WHEN I WATCHED
INFERNO. HAVING JUST WATCHED SUSPIRIA, I WAS EXPECTING A GREAT MOVIE, BUT
IT WAS MEDIOCRE AT BEST. IM NOT SAYING THE MOVIE SUCKS, BUT COMPARED TO
SUSPIRIA AND TENEBRE OR DEEP RED, IT IS HORRIBLE. ANYONE AGREE?

Yeah, I have to admit it is pretty boring. It put me to sleep twice & I never fall asleep watching movies. It didn't have enough energy to it. It's like Dario was too comfortable & forgot to actually try harder.

Don't wander into abandoned churches for Czakyr will grab you from underneath the watery grave.

I liked Inferno, although I was expecting utter trash. I was surprised at how beautiful and aesthetic the film was, possibly even moreso than Suspiria, although it is certainly inferior. I am glad I wasn't expecting a sequel because it was more a continuation and expansion of ideas developed in Suspiria rather than a true follow-up. So yeah, I like Inferno. I like the colors, the ladies *WHOA!*, the atmosphere, all the crazy surreal deaths, the music (though not as incredible as Suspiria's soundtrack). It was quite an experience, certainly in Argento's top 10.

Here's my list so far...

1. Suspiria - A horrific and surreal audio-visual masterpiece
2. Deep Red - A stylish murder mystery with an incredible denouement
3. Phenomena - A beautiful fairy tale with an incredibly exciting climax
4. Tenebre - A thrilling giallo full of wonderful murders
5. The Bird With The Crystal Plumage - A Hitchcockian mystery with a great twist
6. Opera - A super-stylish sadomasochistic slasher-giallo
7. Inferno - A beautiful nightmare

And you will know my name is The Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee!

I agree in part because the movie is good but the final part is awful!

Talking about falling asleep during Argento movies... I've tried to watch Phantom of the Opera three times now and I have fallen asleep each time - and even when I wasn't very tired. From what I remember it might have been from a tiredness of my soul :P.

Glad to see your caps lock works ok.

I am a big fan of Argento and all his work and will not personally discuss a 'worst' Argento movie.

There is quality in them all but they differ greatly. You need to pull out what there is if you didn't on first viewing. Inferno has a very relaxing feel to it throughout from the underwater room to the general music.
Blade Runner did too but likewise is hardly sleep inducing, for most.

This crisis you are talking about is understandable because we must remember that Argento came out from the period of great movies like THE CAT O'NINE TAILS,THE BIRD BY THE CRISTAL PLUMAGE and mainly DEEP RED!
Basically,I think it would have been harder for any director to create a perfect movie after these prior ones.
However,I define INFERNO a great movie with a little end!

About characters, what did you want to say?I don't understand your speech about them, what did you mean by saying that?
If you can explain me,I will be glad of this because I like having conversations about horror movies!

First of all I must preface your thought is right, however the movie gives a primary importance to mistery and the three mothers,I think Agento didn't give information about characters and their backgrounds for this reason, just to put in evidence what I told about.

About the antique store man,his name was Kazanian(the one who dies in the lake among rats, did you mean him?).

About Demoni,it's a splatter movie and I think in such movies it would be useless to underline characters'development because the purpose and is just terror, blood sight and fear...the attention is focused on violent deaths and situations of suspence.

Bye bye!

Inferno has, to say the least, a lacklustre lead in Leigh McCloskey. It also has a laughable script and many moments of unintentional humour (I've seen this movie twice in the cinema, the audience laughs ALL the way through). However.....there's something about it. It's weird. It's beautiful looking - the use of Bavaesque colours is comparable to Suspiria. The sountrack by Keith Emerson is haunting and impressive. And the dream logic at times puts even David Lynch to shame! In short, despite the incredibly obvious faults, I like it a lot. I reckon Inferno is Argento's fifth best film after Deep Red, Suspiria, Tenebrae and Bird.

A cinema full of people laughing at the screen doesn`t prove anything of true qualities. There were stadiums full of people saluting Hitler, and that certainly didn`t prove he was great ;)

Not the worst but surely the most boring.

I loove INFERNO. Sure, SUSPIRIA is better, no movie will EVER be SUSPIRIA but INFERNO is great on it´s own right. One of my favorites of Argento´s. You should re-watch it, gets better with each new viewing

I love Inferno and it's one of my favorites. It's a beautiful film with lots of atmosphere and dream-like imagery.

I don't think it's boring at all but I can see how some might think differently.
