It's my guess that Streisand was probably supposed to be mid-to-late twenties in this roll. But...she made it perfect, despite her own age. She was freakin' sexually aflame in this roll. If Debra Winger had played Claudia Draper...it wouldn't have worked. Winger is a great actress, but she lacks the sensuality an depth of Streisand. Winger is more akin to Sally Field. Cute...but not all that sexual. Am I right?

Streisand owned this role. This is classic filmmaking and will go down in hollywod history as one of the most under-rated films of all time.

If you notice, Dreyfuss is getting a tad older...but he's still over-acting just a tad. Streisand carries him in this film. I love Richard...but he had yet to come into his own with this film. He wasn't quite as pretentious as he was in "The Competition"...he was slowly gaining his momentum. Dreyfuss is one of the greatest male actors of our time...and Streisand helped make that a reality with this film.

I have no idea about the real trial that the film was based upon, and the age of the real person. But I got the vibe that Claudia could have been in her mid to late thirties. Say she went to university and then got married (for 10 years) and then divorced, that could put Claudia in that age bracket. And to be a *high class* call girl, she'd have to be a little bit older, wouldn't she? Even though Barbra was in her mid to late forties at the time, that's the kind of vibe I got in terms of Claudia's age.

I assumed Babs had to be in her mid 30s although she was 45 at the time.
