North Shore soundtrack petition

Hi everyone,

I've been one of those rabid fans of this movie since I saw it in '88. Since the soundtrack was never released (according to director Bill Phelps on the DVD commentary) and I'm sure a lot of you out there would be into having a copy, I thought I'd take the next logical step and create a petition, which will hopefully make it's way into the correct hands at some point.

Most of the memorable tracks from the movie are not available ("Am I the One?" "North Shore Roar", etc.)

So if you have any interest at all, please visit the following link and sign the North Shore Soundtrack petition. THANKS!

Funny enough we contacted Gary Wright (The one who sang Dreamweaver) to see if he was the same one that is listed in the credits. Not only did he confirm that it was in fact his song, but that it would be released "officially" on a boxed set containing rare and unreleased tracks. THAT was about a year, year and a half ago so it looks like it might not see the light.

I just signed the petition, I have been searching for the soundtrack forever. I thought I was the only one that even wanted to see a soundtrack produced. Its cool to see I'm not alone. Its a great movie and I hope we can get an official soundtrack. LATER

Just to let everyone know that is looking for it. Gary Wright has released "Am I The One" on I-Tunes for download. The song is about 90% the same as in the movie, music is identical though the lyrics have been slightly changed. When asked Gary informed us that, this is the original version of the song. He changed the lyrics slightly to fit the movie, though he does not have any copies of that version to be released.

reply

YES! That is awesome news my friend! Thanks so much for posting. I'm off to iTunes!

I Just signed it too. #96 and counting. does anyone have any of these songs that are willing to share?

I was actually pretty surprised as to how many people were actually looking for this soundtrack. fingers still crossed here.

not sure if anyone is interested but my friend has what may be the only North Shore site on the net. not too much there but worth a look.

Best... movie... ever. I have found Am I The One and Blue Hotel so far on i-Tunes. Nothing else though yet...

I've been able to locate "most" of the songs in one fashion or another. So far to date I have copies of:

Blue Hotel
Funky Town
Living In A Dream
This Is Australia
Party Next Door
Am I The One*
Chessboards
Nature of The Beast
Listening
Happy To Give

*=As previously posted this is the original lyrical version from Gary Wright, not identical to the one featured in the film.

I've tracked down most of these through Itunes mp3.com and some of the artists sites or fan pages. I think these represent the "theme" songs from the film pretty well, minus of course North Shore Roar.

BTW Chris Isaak is releasing a greatest hits album on May 9th that features Blue Hotel. Reprise says it is a remastered version of the song, but not sure if it will be remade as well.

If you're familiar with Limewire do a search you'll find it listed as 'Living in a dream' by Psuedo Echo. What a tune!

reply

Hey, I found out that Gary Wright's tune "Am I The One" is available on all the big MP3 sellers (iTunes, Launch, Etc.) I LOVE that song!
