Acquitted means he wasn't.

The remake they did in 2010 really touched on the fact that he was a child molester and killer

But I didn't like the guy they got to play Freddy ....voice and mannerisms were completely off !

reply

Official site says he wasn't here:http://nightmareonelmstreetfilms.com/site/features/series-faq/. So I guess not

reply

If you read the trivia section on the first film it says Freddy was originally meant to have been a child molester but was dropped when there was a child molestation scandal in California during the time of filming the producers didn't want people to think they we're exploiting it to sell the film.

reply

Molester?? What is worse, a child murder or a child molester?

reply

I think molester is worse. With murder the child is at rest but with molester the child can remember what happened.

reply

Not to mention they are usually forced to relive that nightmare over and over again and usually by someone they know and love

reply

^Wow, no offense, but imho you guys have some messed up priorities. You'd really rather get violently murdered than have some creep fondle certain parts of your body?

With murder the child is at rest

Only in the sense that it is dead. I guess you could call that restful, you know, if it wasn't for the death part.

I get this sense that people view being dead as the same thing as being asleep. It isn't. You don't wake up from it. You don't dream. Everything the human race has ever investigated thoroughly suggests it's literally the end of your existence, forever. Sure, that means the bad goes, but so does all of the good.

but with molester the child can remember what happened.

Yes it can, because in this case it is alive.

OK, yes, the experience may be very traumatic, but many victims of rape and other forms of sexual abuse eventually go on to lead pretty normal, healthy lives. Call me crazy, but as unappealing as it is, I'd still prefer that temporary nightmare to actually being murdered.

But then, I've never been the suicidal type.

reply

So you're saying a victim of a horrible abuse crime is going to be so endlessly shattered forever after the fact they that are better off dead?? *beep* you, sincerely from me, and I'd imagine many, if not most other abuse survivors

So after raping a kid its better then to kill him than let him live?

reply

In original scripts for NOES1 and NOES3, Freddy was meant to be a child molester who also murdered his victims. BUT, this was dropped because 1.) it was deemed too dark and 2.) there were issues with child molestation in California in 1984

I think he was. I remember hearing an interview where Robert said Freddy was a child molester, but because of everything that was happening that year, they never flat out said it, but alluded to it, when he makes that obscene gesture with his tongue, to Nancy.

reply

I think he could've been one. If the kids were dead then there's no way they would've been able to tell anyone how and where Freddy touched them. So if there's no proof he wasn't then I'll just assume he was. I think it was hinted in the first film when Marge tells Nancy Freddy was a "filthy child murderer." I think that extra word "filthy" says it all. Murderer is by itself an inherently bad act so there was no need for that adjective before it. I think it was added for a reason. That's just my opinion, though.
