The ending?

I don't get the ending, I mean, why did that woman kill her husband for by putting razors in his food?

At the beginning of the movie when we first see the old man, he drops all his groceries when Sal scares him, and he's all like "those damn kids!". Then, he picks up an apple and razor blades from the stuff that he dropped and says "They'll get what they deserve, Ha! Ha! Ha!" So he's the one who put the blades in the apples.

At the end of the movie, he eats an apple pie that his wife made the night before. She says there weren't as many trick-or-treaters as usual, so she had to do something with all those apples that they didn't give away. So it all seems like an ironic death. Although, I find it hard to believe one would cut apples to make a pie and not notice they're full of razor blades. I also find it hard to believe he would swallow the blades without cutting his mouth first. Oh well, that's 80s' B-Horror Movies for you! XD

I don't think that it matters if she saw them in the apples as she knew beforehand. The implication is that she intentionally fed him the pie knowing about the blades. But the other part is correct, he would cut his mouth before swallowing, though logically he should have seen them before eating it.It would have worked better if it was rat poison or arsenic.

Yeah, you might be right about her intentions, although it's not very explicit whether she knew about the blades or not. On one hand, after his face falls flat on the table, she just kisses his head and says "happy Halloween Dear", which kinda makes your point valid about her intentions being intentional.

But my initial understanding was that it wasn't intentional, because she seems to just let him know genuinely that it is a home-made pie that she made with the very apples he bought. So it seemed to me she didn't know about the blades, because if she indeed wanted to kill him, why would she tell him: "by the way you're eating your own murderous apples right now". Funny how the blades start brutally forcing their way out of his throat right that moment! :D

I think she intentionally did it. She looked pleased with what happened.

Poison would have made more since but the classic boomer trick or treat scare was razor blades in apples so you have to make tradeoffs
