the movie is just so awesome i mean ....u cant compare it wid godfather .....though it deals wid some similar plots.......bt search india is actually a site that is more inclined to hollywood cinema ......and ull find their reviews rather harsh ....and can actually make u angry........i donno who rites those reviews ...bt he or she ...seriously has some personal vendettas wid the Indian film industry.........

these were the opening lines fr the review of nayakan

Nayagan is not The Godfather. For sure, Kamal Haasan is no Marlon Brando or even Al Pacino.

And Mani Rathnam is no patch on Francis Ford Coppola or Mario Puzo.

So why then should you watch Nayagan?,.........come on gimme a break......its a sincere effort made by maniratnam .....and i actually rate him above francis ford coppola who made a disaster casting her daughter in godfather part 3...............

and also nayakan is above the godfather in the top movie ratings .........by times magazine .,..

i am a PUNJABI........if i can understand and fall in love wid nayakan .........anyone can........

And times movie top 100 gives them in alphabetical order... The godfather obviously comer after Nayakan...
I like Nayakan, but i like godfather and once upon a time in america better...
Manirathnam is not above coppola atleast for me...
i would recommend Iruvar to u... Its mani's most original work and i consider it his best...

I am a mad Kamal fan and also obviously Godfather - all parts. Having read the divine book :P, I know its one powerful, personality building beast. So, I can honestly say, I cannot give my honest opinions on the comparison! :)
