Why did anyone give this movie a 10?

If you gave the film a rating of nine or ten why did you do so? I would like to understand how you judge a film. I scored this one on the opposite pole and would like to know your reasoning. This is one of the worst films I have ever seen.

People like you that give 0s and 1s to movies simply because they don't understand them should be executed.

Lol, true :V

Because its not like anything I have ever seen and I was mesmerised by it.

While I didn't give this a full on 10, I gave it a pretty high rating. It is, without a doubt, one of the most challenging and electric films I have ever seen.

Yes, I was bored sometimes. And yes, I had a lot of trouble keeping track of who was who and what actually was going on. But this film really dares to be different, and succeeded in giving me something I have NEVER seen before!

Wish it was properly finished, but I appreciate the fact that it came out!

This is an unfinished film, therefore some slack can be given. This film is uneven, yes, but this film impressed me in a way that the weekly dose of multiplex hasn't. Nothing is for everybody, even Harry Potter.

I'm with you. Completely over-wrought, over-acted, overly-stylized, over-everything. It was one of the most annoying experiences I can remember, even worse than Zulawski's other exercise in the limits of tolerance, Possession. Trying to cram as many close-ups and crazy camera angles as physically possible into a scene does not equal good or innovative filmmaking. I couldn't even finish it.

I've just finished reading every comment on this board. It's obvious that this is a love-it-or-hate-it film. It's now available from Netflix, and I've added it to my queue. It's fifth, so I should be seeing it before October.

I'll let you know if I love it, or hate it.

I disagree with you, but I'm pretty sure you're not Hitler.

I didn't like it. Not sorry I watched it; if you don't take the risk of finding junk, you'll miss the gems. I realize it's unfinished, but even with that, it's just...

The one thing that was clear to me was that everybody in this movie, without exception, is stark staring bonkers.

This is one of my all time favourite films along with Salo and The Holy Mountain and I gave it a ten for a number of reasons but rather than go into detail I would suggest there are two types of film viewers (and their judgements arise out of this 'way of seeing' cinema) which can be summed up simply as those people who actively interface with the film, who use their imagination, who appreciate ambiguity, mystery, ontological fuzziness and surrealism, for these people 'On The Silver Globe' is a masterpiece.

The other type of cinema audience tends to hate ambiguity, confusion and non-linear narratives, they want to be told "how to view" the film and go to the cinema for cathartic release or "entertainment", these are the kind of people who hate films like this.

Also they tend to have little interest in the background story to a film like this, which is the fact that in 1978, the communist state of Poland's cultural wing ordered the film and sets destroyed because they understood this was a deeply subversive film, designed to make people think. As a result of this the director Andrzej Zulawski left Poland for France and did not return until the mid-eighties when the Solidarity movement was in full swing. Out of the surviving film stock he completed the film in 1987 with added voice overs, and new footage where necessary....for me this totally adds to the magic of the film and is a tribute to the directors visionary stance.

Some people become very uncomfortable around "Otherness" and some do not to put it country simple as the late WS Burroughs would say.

In a sane universe, Andrzej Zulawski would be more popular than George Lucas.

Yes, it's a ten.

Dude!! I hear ya! How could anyone possibly, like, ya know, get into this movie? Just a bunch of grainy crappy scenes, and, like, you know, raving lunatic dialog. The movie was probably made for, like, you know, a dime!

Like what? Like this movie is supposed to be, like, you know, DEEP and stuff? Well, like, you know, anything that like, tries to be DEEP and stuff is just pretentious. Did I spell that right? I think I did. Well, I should be able to spell it right cause I use pretentious to describe anything I don't like or don't understand.

I gave it a 10. I haven't seen this movie. I have no intention of seeing this movie. I know nothing about this movie. But I gave it a 10 with the hope of driving some people nuts.
