What is the symbolism the moon?

any ideas?

Uh, yeah. The old man says it in the very beginning. Something like, "The moon brings the woman to the man." It's there whenever something really romantic and important is happening. It symbolizes love.

The moon is shown a lot throughout the film. Rita sees Johnny's younger self in the moonlight. Johnny thinks Cosmo brings the moon to him to wake him up. The moon "inspires" these people in love and life.

There's an Italian folk tale about a prince who one night sees the princess of the moon and falls so much in love that he spends all his time wandering around his gardens at night, looking up at the moon to get another glimpse of her. Finally, with the help of little men, he manages to get to the moon and declare his love for the princess, but unfortunately the bright surface is too much for his eyes and he begins to go blind. The only solution is that he return to earth with the princess, but once there, she begins to wilt away because she misses the white light of the moon. So, once again with the help of the little men, the prince has the Dolomites painted with the moon's beams, which is why they are so white (as in, so snow-covered) today. Anyway, it's a story about being driven to distraction and love that calls to each other despite barriers.

Just a thought...

Full moon. Enough said.

It’s right in the movie’s title: “moonstruck” means unable to think or act normally, especially because of being in love.
