Was it supposed to be Sturmgeschutz or Hetzer?

No it was supposed to be an Su-85.
Sounds weird? No not really, German Units ( for an example the Panzer-Jäger Abteilung 128)used captured SU-85 and also T-34's when captured. In the Movie the Tnaks were painted in an very good almost realistic way, they did that paintjob really good for a low budget movie.

It may be that it is supposed to be a SU-85, but it is actually a SU-100.

The SU-100 is a very rare moviestar. Always enjoyed the tank action in this film :)

I know during the war captured equipment was used and although it has been a while since I read all the Sven Hassel books I don't recall them ever using Soviet tanks. Please correct me if I am wrong!

Its low budget , they couldn't afford authentic replicas, so this discussion is pointless .Just like both sides in the Battle of the Bulge use American tanks .

Understood. Though I was more mentioning the books! For a low budget film I do enjoy this film.
