What's with the foreign Language the car speaks causing Stu. & Barb. Briggs to try every possable feature after fastening the seat belts only to find out that meant the trunk lid is open.

shareI don't think that any 1983-85 Ford LTD's (or any 80s Fords in general) had such a feature, and the dialog probably wasn't coming from the car. It was probably dubbed onto the soundtrack.

shareDatsuns/ Nissans of the early 80s were some of the first to have the voice warnings, so I think by 87 they were well known enough that the Spanish parody played well. I watched this movie a million times as a kid, and it was amusing not weird, my mom had an awful Renault Alliance "Car of the Year" with voice warnings.
shareForm your responses & just recently re-watched the movie, the dialog was dubbed in & when Mr. & Mrs. Briggs exited the vehicle & then re-entered after slamming the trunk lid shut, key in ignition warning buzzer is heard when the driver side door is open. Also they probably used a fox based Lincoln 4-door for the interior shots.
