This story is suppose to be true( Per the remake of 2004 stating the aftermath of what happen in the end!! ) So which story is really true!! Man on Fire (1987) where Creasy is still alive in the end under witness protection, Or Man on Fire ( 2004 ) where he died after exchanging his life for the little girl?? Does anyone know??

The 2003/2004 Man on Fire is based on two different true stories, but I can't remember the exact details.

According to the commentary, Creasy is based on a real character in the 70's who hunted down and tortured the kidnappers of a protectee in Europe. There is a series of books that are fictional, but Scott claims this person really existed, was ex-CIA and actually did some of Creasy's actions to get a kid back."
