My Man who fell to Earth videos

I made a batch of youtube ready videos to The man who fell to Earth (original movie) to the tune of the songs from the incomplete / failed Man who fell to Earth musical. I did them under my youtube alias of JTheGoblinKing (based on an AOL screen name I used to share with my half-brother, Jeff) I do funny versions in the near future IF I feel up to it.

To those who don't know, I did NOT write or sing any of the songs and though some are half hearted (Farmer Brown is a terrible song and I couldn't bear to work on the video for it for very long). I have to admit that some of these (a few of the Paul Murphy ones) were emotionally difficult for me.

My mother died in November and my stepfather couldn't live without her and died of an over dose on New Years Eve and I don't think I have or will ever fully recover.

And for those who know nothing about Sir Elton John's Lestat musical but knew I planned on persistently watching it's progress to the point of obsession, well, I did. And I know exactly where it went wrong. I have all the demo recordings (all of Sir Elton John's eighteen demos), the original script, as well as some other lovely rarities.

The San Francisco version of the play was wonderful and very true to the books and connected well to the Interview with the vampire movie but the New York version is literally unrecognizable, I have seen both. They went off in their own direction with the New York version and large chunks of it stopped making sense and the inconsistencies were mind boggling. They tried to 'simplify' it and in the process turned it into dribble with an ending that falls flatter than the main character off a roof. I could have written something better while half asleep. I don't know why Linda Wooverton butchered her own script like that or why Bernie Taupin let them hack apart and dumb down his lyrics to something fit for Sesame Street. I know the original versions of the songs and script, I know what could have been. I blame Warner Brothers. They have mishandled Anne Rice's novels since that awful Queen of the dammed movie.

Ah, that was a fine distraction from reality for a few seconds, slipping in to that short tangent...

The following youtube videos are to Paul Murphy's songs for the attempted Man who fell to Earth musical. They play best on a High speed Internet connection.

Songs by Julian Maile

Man who fell to Earth

(Er... I was being lazy on this one.)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A4XB_W7G6i8

Star Blind (probably the best thing this man ever did, I actually like it)

Farmer Brown
(May God have mercy on that tone deaf bastard's soul. This one actually ended at 5 minutes and ten seconds but there's a bunch of other clips after it because the windows movie maker kept telling me the song was longer than it really was and once I realized the machine just hated the song as much as I do I didn't want to bother editing it. I dislike this song and didn't want to do anything special for it.)

And for anyone interested this is for the memory of my mother who passed away in November

Whoopse, forgot the Star blind one. Shows how much I 'love' Julian Maile (Sarcasm) doesn't it?
