A recent similar movie

I saw a recent poor version of this cult classic, it starred Brittany Murphy (yeah *sarcasm*) and I found it bad that that actual movie copy/paste to a brand new one, anyway, this one own the place!!

How about the new one that Jessica Simpson will be in next year called Room Service? That seems to be close to both Uptown Girls and Maid to Order.

reply

You know what, I never thought about Uptown Girls, but yeah! Can definitely see parallels.

Well what about Material Girls for Haley and Hillary Duff. To an extent, rich heiresses that lose it all, have to get jobs, etc, then get it all back. There is even a seen in the preview showing them at the employment agency.

reply

Didn't see this one, but yeah, seems like a definite "reversal Cinderella".

There is also:

The Family Man: a young man (Nicolas Cage) turns down the chance to marry his hot girlfriend so that he can become a wealthy Wall Street tycoon--then awakes one morning to find out that he's now married to her, has kids, and is a tire salesman for his father-in-law. His whole reality has been changed---why? He has to figure that out himself.

And my personal favorite:

Mr. Destiny: Larry Burrows(James Belushi) is unhappy with his life. He has a crappy job, crappy co-workers,crappy boss, and almost no money at all.....he gets drunk and wishes that he had made the home-run he botched as a kid. Mr. Destiny (Micheal Caine) steps in and makes it happen, and suddenly he's wealthy and things are looking up....or so he thinks at the start.

Slobberknocker!

Haven't seen Mr. Destiny. Will add it to my NetFlix.

A few years ago there was From Prada to Nada, which was really an update of Jane Austen's Sense & Sensibility, much like Clueless is an update of Austen's Emma. Anyway, it also dealt with spoiled Latin sisters from Beverly Hills, who lose their wealth after their father dies and leaves them a huge deal of debt, so they have to relocate to an LA slum and move in with poorer relatives they've never met.
