Santa Cruz movies on the beach

Has anyone ever caught The Lost Boys when it opens the free movies on the beach summer season? I'm curious what the atmosphere is like watching the movie where some of it was filmed.

My goal ever since I found out about it five years ago was to turn it into a date. Imagine spending the entire day having fun at The Boardwalk and then capping the night with The Lost Boys on location. But even though I've had women in my life regularly since then, I somehow always manage to be single during the time frame. This is the first year where I have a good chance of making it because my current GF is amazing. However, if things go south before June, I might just delay the break up so I can attend first. Haha
