Was in Santa Cruz yesterday.

What a unique place. The city is like it's trapped in the 80's. Filled with 14-25 year olds wondering the streets all times of the night. The temp drops at night and the beach is filled with groups with Bon fires. The board walk looks pretty much the same as the movie. With a giant stage on the beach. In this day and age of social media and the Internet the city is like it's still in the 80's. I think I saw 1 or 2 cell phones in the 14 hours I was there. Biggest difference from 1987 is that the race ratio was more balanced with the majority on the boardwalk and beach being probaly Hispanic and several interracial couples.

Cool...

Blu-Ray = Not Impressive and Vastly Overrated just like the Halo Series

I liked it. I see why Donner picked that location now. I plan on going back next month. They are showing Lost Boys on the big screen on the stage at the beach tomorrow. So that should be interesting.

Are you serious? They're still showing that movie in Santa Cruz?

I need to go over there myself then and check it out.

So that should be interesting.

Yeah, sounds like fun as well. Nothing better than being at the location of where one of your favorite films was shot at. And then you get to see the actual film on stage.

Wish I was there.

Yeah it's part of the movies on the beach promotion this summer. Every Wed. starting tomorrow . Lost Boys will be the first movie they show. The 4th was my first time ever in Santa Cruz. Didn't think I would like it but I did.

Before I die, I have to go see these filming locations!

To see The Lost Boys, right on the beach would be a dream come true!

reply

Would be awesome to watch it there.

imfrom n.y,but lived in scfor years! always wanted tofind where the grandpas house was. I saw a clip on youtubebut no mention where exactly its located. anyone know????

reply

I know you asked this years ago, but I think the grandpa's house was up near the University. There's one quick shot where you can see the view and it looks like a similar angle.

sounds like heaven to me

I've been to it as well.

You'll find all the filming locations are next to each other, the parking lot is right next to the bridge they hang from, everything looks the same, real nice place deffo still in the 80's esp the arcade they have there.

We could only find reference to the move though and that was a small poster as you walked to the rollercoaster in the line.

I live here and it's the same, but that comic shop moved. It's nowhere near as cool as it was, but whatever. Another cool one to do is watch Play Misty for Me then go down to Carmel and Monterey (about 45 minutes south) and check out those locales.

Ever since I watched The Lost Boys - many years ago - I have always wanted to visit that place. And I only live like an hour away.

Hey there, Johnny Boy, I hope you fry!

It's more like the '70s than the '80s.

Moving to SC six and a half years ago is the best thing that ever happened to me. I only wish I'd lived here all my life. It's a scaled-down San Francisco.

I'm so jealous - I love in England and have always Bern captivated by the place in the movie, the look, the vibe.

It'd be awesome go there.

You guys that only live an hour away...seriously, just go lol

reply

That's cool, people at work tell me I'm Jim Morrison reincarnated so I'll have to get some leather pants and walk around that area, maybe stay a while.

Never been to Santa Cruz unfortunately, but I did see the church set where the frog brothers came in for holy water on a backlot in Hollywood.
