CW show on the way

The Lost Boys has found a new home.

EW has confirmed that the CW is developing a television series based on the campy 1987 vampire movie, with iZombie and Veronica Mars creator Rob Thomas serving as writer and executive producer.

Reimagining the original film — a horror-comedy that boasted a constellation of teen idols in Jason Patric, Kiefer Sutherland, and the “Two Coreys,” Haim and Feldman — the show would explore what it means to be immortal, with a story spanning 70 years.

The series is intended to unfold over seven seasons, with each season covering a different decade. Every season would bring a new setting, new human characters, and a new antagonist, while the titular vampires remain the same. Season 1 would be set in 1967 San Francisco, during the Summer of Love.

For the CW, The Lost Boys could fill a blood-sucking void left by The Vampire Diaries, which is concluding with its eighth season.

Danielle Stokdyk, Dan Etheridge, Mike Karz, and Bill Bindley serve as executive producers alongside Thomas, under the auspices of Spondoolie Productions, Gulfstream Television, and Warner Bros. Television.

Deadline first reported the news.

I wonder if there will be a recast David and crew?

I think they'd be smart to utilize present day Edgar Frog in at least *some* of each season.

Little vignettes, or flash backs and flash forwards, like in Arrow.

This sums up my feelings to a lost boys tv show: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WWaLxFIVX1s

You know what the tv show is gonna be, right? It's gonna be a generic assfest that leeches off of the brand and legacy of this movie while possessing absolutely none of the heart, charm and soul that made Lost Boys such a one off classic. Think of the Teen Wolf tv series or Smallville. Same old sh!t.

Commence Operation... Vacu-suck

I'll watch it if it's a horror series in the same vein as the movies. But being that it's on the CW it will probably be a sappy relationship drama-fest ala Vampire diaries.

Sounds cool but it won't be that cool, i hope i'm wrong. I wish it was Netflix.

I agree I'd be more optimistic if it was a Netflix original - this'll probably end up like all the other crappy CW vampire shows, full of bad acting and soapy storylines
