HBO ought to reboot this as a mini-series

It could be done as a continuing series which could continue for several seasons, with some players coming back every year and others moving on (to the majors, or out of baseball).

I'd set it slightly earlier, about 1950. This would make the racial integration angle more of a big deal.

If he would agree, I would bring back Petersen as Studs, but this time he would be strictly a non-playing old-time pitcher. He could be full of stories about playing with Babe Ruth, etc etc.

And I would bring back Madsen as Dixie Lee, Stud's wife and now co-owner of the team (she inherited money from her parents when they died and she and Studs buy the team when he washes out of baseball in the Depression in the early 1930s).

HBO could scout out some old minor-league baseball park to use as a shooting location.
