This outstanding movie was released in the USA on laser disc in a superb 2.35:1 aspect ratio 3 sided set. Last year it was released on DVD in Australia, but in a butchered 1.78:1 aspect ratio. The color and sharpness is much better but the loss of the wide screen original is unforgivable. The lack of a decent DVD release is a real shame.

I just ordered the DVD region code 2 on Amazon.de. I did not expect that they would publish it here because it is really not a well-known film (I saw one re-run in my life so far), but I am happy they did. The cavalry attack scene in the movie is outstanding.

Got it on Ebay for about $5. Compared to the trailer uploaded onto YouTube, though, the DVD print is a little on the dark side, particularly towards the end of the movie. The Battle of Bersheeba looks too dark, though I guess that keeps well with the officers' assertion that nightfall is less than an hour away.
