Why did that guy on the roof want to kill himself?

What do you think caused him to attempt suicide before Riggs came onto him and rescued him by jumping onto a safety mat with him from that roof? (Also, wasn't the scene a little like that similar part in Dirty Harry (1971)?)

Maybe he had a misfortune in the relationship with someone? People bullied or insulted him? He's had enough of the world? Or what could it have been?

As the suicidal man said:

”NONE OF YOUR GODDAMNED BUSINESS!”

🤷‍♂️

He was hearing voices in his head that were telling him to do terrible things, and he decided jumping was much better for the world. Unfortunately he was released after the events of the first film and became a serial killer. In hindsight Riggs should have let him jump.

Yea I heard about this too.

reply

Financial ruin and overwhelming debt that he can't get out of.

Maybe his wife left him and took the kids, and he wouldn’t resolve his problems any other way.

We'll never know.

Maybe he was faking it so as to get some kind of special treatment, similar to how Martin's craziness was perceived as being a bit of a put-on.
