Does anyone else think of this . . .

... as a Christmas movie?

Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy the classics too. Well, a few anyway. It’s a Wonderful Life, A Charlie Brown Christmas, A Christmas Story.

But Less Than Zero has always been a holiday film to me as well.

While it does not have that Xmas feel to it the period allows families that are spread out around the country to congregate together.

I guess the other thing that seems strange to many people is the weather especially if you've grown up in the Nothern Hempisphere. I'm based in the UK so I expect cold Xmases but I gre up in Perth Western Australia where the weather is completetly different - too hot at times to cook a meal indoors for Xmas day.

It's a great Christmas movie for people who @#$%ing hate Christmas.

How can it be a Christmas movie if there is no snow, not even cold weather, people walk around in light clothing and sit in outdoor swimming pools?

reply

Because it takes place during Christmas and references Christmas specifically a bunch of times, dummy.

There's no snow in Die Hard but that's also considered a Christmas movie.

My father was a drunk, a gambler and a womanizer. I idolized him

That's probably why Xmas sucks in California; no snow! I lived out there for over 10 years and worked them instead and gave people with families the day!  
